Dr. Bennett is the Professor of Orthopaedics and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics. He has been Chief of the Section of Tulane Pediatric Orthopaedics since 1996. Dr. Bennett, a native of New Orleans, received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University School of Engineering and medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic residency training at the University of North Carolina which included a year as chief resident at the Alfred I. duPont Institute in Wilmington, Delaware, followed by a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at the Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. His special interests include pediatric spinal deformities including scoliosis, both operative and non operative management. He was the first to do thoracoscopic anterior minimally invasive spine surgery in Louisiana. Dr. Bennett's approach to the treatment of spinal deformity is to use all available technology for the safe instrumentation of the spine including computer fluoro navigational technology, spinal cord monitoring, cell saver and minimally invasive surgery when appropriate. Dr. Bennett is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society, a prestigious organization that recognizes expertise in the management of spinal deformity; in addition he is a member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society and American Academy of Orthopaedics Surgeons. |
